About
Gordo Banks is Los Cabos’s most legendary advanced dive site, and one of the most exciting pelagic dives in all of Mexico. Located approximately 29 miles (46 km) from the marina, these seamounts rise from the depths of the Sea of Cortez to create a natural corridor for some of the ocean’s most impressive species.
The undisputed star is the scalloped hammerhead shark — which schools around the seamounts in numbers that can be astonishing during peak season (August through January). Silky sharks, mobula rays, giant mantas, tope sharks, dorado, and occasional marlin round out the cast. When conditions align, you’re scanning the open blue for whatever chooses to cross your path that day.
This is not a reef dive. There are no visual references at depth, and currents can be strong. The thrill is the uncertainty — every descent into blue water is different.
Due to the advanced nature of this site, participation requires Advanced Open Water certification with a minimum of 40 logged dives, plus a check dive with our team in Cabo before heading to the banks. Nitrox is strongly recommended to maximize bottom time.

Certification Requirement
All divers must present a valid certification card (e.g., PADI, SSI, CMAS). Without proof of certification, participation in any dive is not permitted.
Medical & Liability Forms
All participants must complete and sign the medical questionnaire and liability waiver before diving. If any medical condition requires clearance, a doctor’s approval may be requested.
Payment & Booking
Bookings are confirmed only after full payment or required deposit. Remaining balances must be settled prior to the activity.

Please note that charges on US credit and debit cards will be processed in Mexican Pesos (MXN) at the exchange rate determined by the company, which is subject to change without prior notice. Quote valid for 15 days.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
Deposits & No Shows are non-refundable.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance for eligibility for a refund or reschedule (depending on policy). We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule dives due to weather or safety conditions.
Equipment Responsibility
Rented equipment must be returned in the same condition received. Any lost or damaged gear will incur replacement or repair charges.
Safety & Assumption of Risk
Diving involves inherent risks. By booking, the participant agrees to follow all safety guidelines and releases the dive operator from liability for incidents resulting from failure to follow instructions or from unavoidable risks.
